Merril Lynch lists the figure at 15,000. Edward Jones says 19,000. JP Morgan Wealth Management says their figure is closer to 5,000.
Large, nationwide investment firms have varying numbers of independent advisors working with clients in the field. But one thing remains true: those are some massive figures. Some of you reading might wonder, why would we mention “the competition” at all? Well, the truth is, we don’t feel we are their “competition.” What we have to offer is far more than a national chain.
The Many Tasks of an Advisor
No matter where you are in your career as an advisor, you could always use a helping hand. There are plenty of changes in our industry, and keeping informed of all the new trends, options, and changes is difficult to do on your own.
An advisory role means you have multiple facets to always balance. Firstly, you must tend to your clients. You want to be sure that your current clients are happy. You want to be sure you are checking in with them and meeting their needs and future goals. Secondly, you want to cultivate new clients: meeting new faces, networking, and branching out in ways that can grow your business.
It would be ideal if that were all you had to focus on. Unfortunately (unless you truly love paperwork), there is a matter of compliance. You must constantly monitor the regulatory environment. You will need to have a solid compliance plan, with clear policies and procedures sensibly in place to be sure you are always working well within industry regulations.
Add to these crucial duties the need to stay educated and informed, update yourself on any changes, monitor all portfolios, stay up-to-date with insurance and tax laws … the list goes on and on. You have many hats to wear, albeit only one head on which to place them.

A financial advisor wears so many hats. How many of them do you actually like “wearing?” Are you ready to set a few down?
Independent, But Not Alone
Can the “Big Dogs” with the aforementioned thousands of independent advisors under their “umbrellas” truly help you? Maybe. Their tools and programs seem to work for some. But, there are likely many things you would be missing, too.
At CoreCap Advisors, we focus on your personal success. We are here to support you and assist you. We want to be able to take the non-revenue-producing activities off your plate, freeing you up to interact with prospects and clients…building your business! You, of course, remain an independent advisor, but there is a huge difference: you have a team behind you.
Our team doesn’t just offer some moral support. Instead, we assign each advisor to a relationship manager to assist them with questions and concerns. If you are stuck with a client’s unique need, your relationship manager can talk you through some options. You will regularly schedule calls with this manager, and they will be there to support you as you need it.
Your voice will actually be heard with CoreCap. You are not one of thousands, but instead you truly matter. We are not one of those “big dogs,” nor do we ever aim to be. We appreciate our close-knit team, the ability to address our advisors by name, and our knack to recognize their individual needs. We offer a personalized service catered to you.
